Learning Environment

What it is

The BOOST Learning Environment is the project’s open-source, online hub for connecting academia and non-academic innovation actors across Europe, with a strong focus on Widening countries. It is designed as a one-stop shop where organisations and researchers can network, discover R&I initiatives and opportunities, and access practical resources that help turn research excellence into innovation outcomes.

What you will find inside

  • The BOOST Toolbox: an open-access database of content and instruments, starting from the five BOOST learning modules and expanding with project results and curated resources.
  • Practical guidance to strengthen innovation careers, including materials and guidelines linked to Personal Career Development Plans.
  • Opportunities and ecosystem navigation, tailored to the realities of Widening regions, such as:

  – funding and research opportunities and potential investors

 – innovation and research agencies, business incubators, service providers, mentors, programmes and events

  – sector-specific programmes and competitions

 – EU funds overview and related opportunities, including partner search and announcements

  • A BOOST alumni space featuring concrete success stories, so users can learn from real pathways and keep the community active beyond the project.

How it is built and validated

BOOST does not build the platform in isolation. The Learning Environment is tested and improved through a structured pilot involving at least 100 researchers and stakeholders, supported by hands-on workshops, webinars, and interactive sessions. To keep feedback grounded and continuous, Local ERA Councils bring together stakeholders from academia, industry, and other sectors to provide real-time recommendations and ensure the platform evolves in response to user needs.

Designed to multiply impact

BOOST actively seeks synergies with existing regional tools and initiatives. The goal is to link, complement, and strengthen what already exists, so the Learning Environment becomes a reliable reference point for collaboration, skills development, and long-term knowledge exchange between widening and non-widening ecosystems.
